Our Story

Our Story

Welcome to MHP Hospitality, a legacy rooted in a journey that began in the 1970s with Haresh Panchal’s migration to the United States. Having held a leadership position at Brown Bowery, India, Haresh brought his expertise to the U.S., where he excelled as an engineer in a top management role. His commitment to excellence led him to earn a Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering from the state of California, alongside General Contractor Licenses B and C10.

In 1974, Haresh and his wife Manorama ventured into the world of hospitality by acquiring an 18-room independent property in San Jose. With vision and dedication, he transformed it into a 45-unit Quality Inn. The journey continued in 1975 with the purchase of a 35-room independent property on 80,000 square feet, now undergoing redevelopment by his son, Dhaval Panchal, into a 120-unit property.

Over the next 25 years, Haresh and Manorama expanded MHP Hospitality’s footprint, acquiring and developing properties in San Jose, Milpitas, Hollister, San Francisco, Portland, Watsonville, and Santa Cruz. Manorama Panchal played a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations at each property. Beyond business, Haresh embraced community involvement, playing a pivotal role in founding the F.I.A. Northern California India Cultural Association and serving as director, chairman, and trustee. His contributions extended to the national level, where he served as the Regional and National Vice-President and held the presidency of the National Federation of Indian American Association from 1998 to 2000.

Haresh’s civic and political affiliations garnered recognition, leading to invitations to prestigious events such as The State Funeral of Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India, where he represented the Official White House delegation led by First Lady Hillary R. Clinton. His influence reached back to India, where he was invited multiple times to discuss emerging trends and markets.

In 2001, the baton was passed to Dhaval Panchal, who assumed the role of President and CEO of MHP Hospitality. Under Dhaval’s leadership, the company soared to new heights, with strategic acquisitions in Maui, Moss Beach, Monterey, and Carmel. Today, Dhaval oversees a dedicated team of around 100 employees across nine properties, ensuring MHP Hospitality continues to be synonymous with excellence and innovation in the hospitality industry.
